How Do I Clean My Filters?

Cleaning your filters is a simple process that will help ensure your water stays sanitary and ensures the proper functioning of your hot tub.

Our Tri-X filters should be cleaned as required to maintain water clarity.  The frequency and duration of use, and the number of occupants, all contribute to determining the appropriate time between filter cleanings.  The more frequent the use, the more frequent filters cleanings required.

Filter cleaning procedure:

  • Place brand new filters into the dishwasher to remove surface debris.  Place the Tri-X filter in the dishwasher without soap and ensure the drying cycle is turned off.
  • Monthly, the Tri-X filters need to be placed into the dishwasher to remove surface debris.  Place the Tri-X filter in the dishwasher with no soap and ensure the drying cycle is turned off.
  • To maintain crystal clear water we recommend a regular cleaning of the Tri-X filter using a filter cleaner* each time you drain and refill the spa or after three months, whichever is sooner, according to package instructions, then place the filter on a clean surface and spray until clean using a garden hose.

Dishwasher detergents and rinse agents, such as Jet Dry, can be harmful if used while cleaning the filter in the dishwasher.

It may be necessary to rotate the filter while spraying to remove any debris lodged between the pleats.

*The type of filter cleaner used will vary, depending upon the water care system being used.

For Chlorine, Bromine & Silk Balance:  use Leisure Time Filter Cleaner and Degreaser or Fresh Water Filter Cleaner.
